Jenny Flies Again!

Great news from the University of Alaska Museum of the North in Fairbanks. The Curtiss JN-4D “Jenny” Aircraft flown by Carl Ben Eielson in 1923, one of the largest items in the museum’s history collections, is again on display at the Fairbanks International Airport. More than thirty volunteers from the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association helped with the restoration. The EAA, officials from the Fairbanks International Airport, and Davis Construction, the original contractor for the recent expansion at FAI, worked together to complete the installation at the end of October.

Angie Linn, the museum’s Ethnology and History collections manager, notes the aircraft connects people to Fairbanks’s early history. Watch for a dedication ceremony to take place at the airport in the new year.
