From friends in Anchorage comes this reminder of a historic gem worth a visit this summer:
The Oscar Anderson House
Museum offers guided tours all summer through September 1. The museum is
located downtown at 420 M Street, along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail at
Elderberry Park.
Visitors will enjoy a
45-minute guided tour of the House Museum, recently named a Distinctive
Destination by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Visitors will learn
about the history and day-to-day life of early Anchorage as illustrated by one
of its pioneer families.
The House Museum is open from
12 to 4 p.m., Tuesdays through Sundays (except July 4th). Guided tours are offered
throughout each afternoon. Admission is $10 per adult and $5 per child 3 to 12.
Children under 3 are admitted free. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission
fees are used to support the operations of the House Museum program.
The Alaska Association for
Historic Preservation manages the operations of The Oscar Anderson House Museum
in partnership with the Municipality of Anchorage.
